New Friends and Too Much Drink, Cordoba and Mendoza, Argentina - April 2011

Cordoba

We took the luxurious overnight, Argentine bus from Salta to Cordoba for the Easter weekend. We were lucky to get on, everything was practically full and the bus station was a scene of utter chaos.

The one two game; who are better looking, Argentine men or Argentine women.
The voting was split unexpectedly - girls voted for boys, boys voted for girls!

A master class in pasta making with our great new friends Ravi and Eileen who we hope to see in Buenos Aires.

The pasta dishes are complete and time for another competition.
Boys against girls, who made the best pasta? The blind taste test by chef said the girls won. Opps, sorry, I meant the boys.
Mendoza - Wine Country
We cooked our roast with our Argentine friend Matias, it was delicious, with good Argentine beef.  We shall be seeing Matias in Buenos Aires too hopefully.

The hostel pizza and tequila party!
L-R Swedish man, Dutch girl, Richard, Ryan and Chris.

A day trip into the High Andes with the Youth Hostel.
Some of the most amazing scenery you will see anywhere in the world. Mountains of rainbow colours due to the different chemicals and minerals.
The Puente del Inca. The bridge is natural, composed of sediment and no rock.
There are hot springs here, which belonged to the local hotel (just to the right of picture, but the army decided the hot springs should be for the public, so they blew the hotel up...

Charles Noling, this one's for you.

Richard and the guide in front of Aconagua, the highest peak in the Americas.

Wine Tour
We had lunch in the most gorgeous vineyard and the food was delicious; slow cooked beef in white (yes, white)wine. Good home comfort food. Richard and the group enjoyed the free red wine on tap, but I had to have just water!
