Banos
We travelled to Banos (named after the thermal baths, not a toilet) from Quito with our French friends, Anthony and Frederique. It was all about trekking and cycling.

An amazingly clear view of Volcan Cotopaxi en route. |
Solve this for us please. How did these chickens get to the top of the tree? |
On the way home from the pub the earth shook and we had to follow the evacuation signs to shelter... |
Resting on our day long cyce ride (not as hard as you think, it was all downhill, and we got a truck ride back). |
An innocent group photo?
Unfortunately, the camera does not capture the Ecuadorian woman to Richard's right, whose wandering had is firmly clasping his left buttock cheek! |
Here is the proof that we cheated, but we wern't the only ones. |
The next day, more cheating. We got a 4x4 ride half way up a volcano. Although our smug smiles soon wore off on the near vertical 4 hour climb (no pictorial evidence needed for that!). |
Much of the path was through Tolkein-like tunnels. |
Fortunately we could replenish ourselves on the local delicacy, barbequed guineapig-locally known as cuy. |
No comment, but we didn't eat here. |
Dona Yolanda eyeing Richard up lovingly. For four days I had to listen to her saying how funny Richard was. She was lovely though. |
